Kid-Friendly Events in Columbia Town Center

Below are some kid-friendly events in Columbia to entertain the whole family.

Whether you work from home, are a stay-at-home parent, or work outside of the house, you need some practical activities for your kids to keep them busy now that the weather is warming up. Otherwise, you risk them getting too much screen time, which is not good for their mental or physical health development. Below are some kid-friendly events in Columbia to entertain the whole family.

Columbia Cleans

Join Town Center Community Association, your friends, and neighbors for a community clean up. We’ll be cleaning the multi-use path around Lake Kittamaqundi.

We’ll meet on the patio above the lakefront fountain near Millie Bailey Park and Whole Foods at 10:00 a.m on April 5th. Trash bags and water will be provided. Please bring work gloves if you have them.

This is an excellent opportunity for residents, children, and youth organizations to help the community. All ages are welcome, but children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Waivers are required. For participants under the age of 18, a parent/legal guardian must sign waiver. Waivers are available in advance and will be available at Lake Kittamaquandi the day of the event. Click Here for an individual’s waiver. Earth Day Celebration in Color Burst Park

Earth Day Celebration at Color Burst Park in Downtown Columbia will feature free eco-friendly activities for the family on Saturday, April 19, from 10 a.m. to noon. DIY workshops will be offered to create succulent terrariums, peat pot decorating, and seed planting. Attendees are invited to bring a pair of jeans from home to transform into an upcycled jean journal.

Scheduled activities include a 45-minute yoga class hosted by Yoga Six from 10:15 to 11 a.m. Participants are encouraged to arrive early to register and set up their own yoga mat or blanket.

Free giveaways include deciduous tree seedlings for the first 100 families to arrive at the event. The trees are provided by the Arbor Day Foundation courtesy of Howard Hughes. Butterfly wing capes and antennae will be available for the first 100 children on-site. Click here to RSVP.

Peace Camp!

The Kittamaqundi Community in Town Center will host Peace Camp again this summer for kids ages 5-14, June 23-27 from 9 to 2. Through fun activities in arts, games, storytelling, and team building, Peace Camp Astronauts will develop skills in emotional regulation, conflict resolution, and peacebuilding. We will provide snacks. Tuition is $250, but scholarships are available if needed. Click here to learn more.
